Luxury car brand Lexus has confirmed that the all-new generation of the Lexus ES will launch in India on March 20, 2026. The upcoming model represents a major update for the premium sedan, bringing a redesigned exterior, more advanced technology, and improved electrified powertrain options.

The new ES will arrive nearly a year after its global debut and is expected to strengthen Lexus’ presence in the luxury sedan segment in India.

A Completely New Generation

The upcoming ES is the eighth-generation model, built on the updated TNGA-K platform, which allows hybrid and electric powertrains.

Compared with the outgoing model, the new version is larger and more advanced. Reports indicate that it is:

  • 165 mm longer
  • 55 mm wider
  • Over 110 mm taller
  • 80 mm longer wheelbase

These changes are expected to provide more cabin space and improved comfort, especially for rear passengers.

Futuristic Exterior Design

The 2026 Lexus ES adopts a much sharper and more futuristic styling approach. Key design highlights include:

  • New Z-shaped LED lighting signature
  • Cleaner front fascia replacing the traditional spindle grille
  • Sloping coupe-like roofline
  • Full-width LED light bar at the rear with illuminated “LEXUS” lettering
  • Newly designed alloy wheels and stronger body creases

The new design gives the sedan a sportier appearance compared with the smooth styling of the previous generation.

Premium Interior and Technology

Inside the cabin, the ES features a more minimalistic and digital dashboard layout.

Key interior highlights include:

  • 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 12.3-inch digital driver display
  • Mark Levinson premium sound system
  • Electrochromic panoramic glass roof
  • Reclining rear seats with “Boss mode”
  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

Lexus also claims improved sound insulation thanks to better door sealing and acoustic glass, enhancing the car’s reputation for quiet luxury.

Hybrid Powertrain Expected for India

Globally, the new Lexus ES is offered with hybrid and fully electric powertrains, but India is expected to continue with the hybrid version similar to the current ES 300h.

Possible powertrain options include:

  • 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid – around 197 hp
  • 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid – around 201 hp
  • ES 350h hybrid – up to 247 hp

These engines are paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission and may be available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive in global markets.

Expected Price in India

The current Lexus ES starts at around ₹62.65 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The new-generation model is expected to come with a slight price increase, likely placing it in the ₹70 lakh range depending on the variant.

Expected Rivals

In India, the new Lexus ES will compete with other premium luxury sedans such as:

  • Mercedes‑Benz C‑Class
  • BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase
  • Audi A4

These models dominate the midsize luxury sedan segment, but the ES focuses heavily on comfort, hybrid efficiency, and quiet driving experience.

Summary:
The all-new Lexus ES will officially debut in India on March 20, 2026, bringing a larger body, futuristic design, upgraded technology, and a hybrid powertrain. With its focus on comfort and electrified performance, the sedan aims to strengthen Lexus’ position in India’s premium luxury car market.
